I’m Brecht Engels: part rebel, part strategist, all-in creative with deep Belgian roots and a flair for thinking beyond borders. I help brands and agencies make their mark—and carve it in a way that lasts, like that love note you once scratched into the big oak tree of your childhood hometown. It’s not about quick wins; it’s about lasting impact. By connecting razor-sharp insights with bold ideas, big thinking turns into even bigger realities.
Breaking the same old, functional but uninspiring mold? That’s what I do. Pushing boundaries and outsmarting algorithms with a slightly adrenaline-fueled heartbeat. It’s all about emotion, storytelling, a bit of science, and driving real change—while staying rebelliously true to myself. (Read: with just the right pinch of Belgian wit).

In 2019, we gave existing statues a cone of fries and in 2020, we highlighted some Flemish song classics. How could we give the ultimate ode to our fries in 2021?

Let’s just say this project gave me my first gray hairs—who knew creativity could come with a side of stress? The pitch process was a wild ride, with a million details to juggle, but we snagged it in the end! As the mighty concept 'guardian', I had to play the role of the client’s BFF, gently nudging the artists to embrace my vision while adding an emotional cherry on top of the song. And guess what? Everything clicked on that one epic shoot day. (Just one day—no wonder I’ve earned a few gray hairs!) As the creative director on set, I was quick on my feet, making snap decisions when things went a little sideways. But those gray hairs? Totally worth it for me!

What do you get when you put Bram Krikke and Philips OneBlade, the Rijksmuseum's main sponsor, in one room? They might kiss... No instant smiles on freshly shaven faces! This idea hit me while scrolling through my delightfully weird For You page, and I thought:“This could really amp up the buzz for OneBlade and the Frans Hals exhibition.” What did I find on my For You page? I stumbled across my first 'Sterren op het Doek' moment with Tjitske Reidinga, and let me tell you—I was completely hooked on that woman! So with its playful parody vibe, this concept was bound to trim TikTok and keep everyone laughing, while making the museum a must-visit for all —moustache or no moustache! And just to top it off, I leveled up the idea by integrating Bram and his painting into a remake of the iconic Tussen Kunst & Kitsch. The result? Pure PR gold.

As the creative, I took charge of shaping Bar-le-Duc’s hero TVC campaign, while collaborating with the social team to give Bar-le-Duc that love-brand glow for the 'next' generation. We poured the "Thirsty for More" positioning strategy into every aspect—serving up social content, shaking up campaigns with artists and creators while mixing in a hero TVC (soon to hit Pathé screens). Add in some sweaty festival giveaways and a sparkling new website, and boom! The result? Bar-le-Duc sales bubbled up, and the brand got a whole new fizz with a fresh, youthful twist.
